# How We Calculate

Learn about our home renovation cost estimation methodology, mathematical formulas, and material and labor rate structures.

Renovation costs are split into three core operational areas: material finishes, plumbing & electrical, and trade labor. Our calculator applies standard distribution ratios derived from historic bathroom and kitchen remodels in Australia:

Labor rates and regulations vary significantly between states. In New South Wales and Victoria, waterproofing and trade installation work are strictly audited and require formal certifications to pass building inspections. Our algorithm automatically applies a state-level labor multiplier to reflect metropolitan trade availability and local waste disposal charges.

Estimates are indicative only and based on publicly available data. Actual costs may vary.
